"We looked at presentation techniques, learning how to cut the sentences into chunks and how to stress each word in a paragraph.

We listened to an example, then we muted the sound, and then tried to do the techniques we’d learnt. To hear myself speaking was really helpful."

What is the difference between the Cambridge B2 First and C1 Advanced exams?

Cambridge English B2 First and C1 Advanced (FCE and CAE) exams both test you on all your English language skills; writing, reading, grammar, listening and speaking.

Carried out by Cambridge Assessment English, the Cambridge English exams are used all over the world to measure English language ability.

The difference between B2 First and C1 Advanced is in the level of English covered, based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) level. The qualification names reflect the language competency they are respectively suitable for; B2 First is aimed at an upper-intermediate level (B2 CEFR), and shows that you can use English well enough to live and work in an English-speaking environment.

Advanced is suitable for students at a high level (C1 and above) and is considered proof that your English level is suitable for entering university or a more complex professional role. We also offer preparation courses for the Cambridge C1 Advanced exam.
