City Or Countryside?

Are you a countryside lover or a city slicker?  Do you live in a bustling city, and long for green open spaces to get away from it all. Or do you find the silence deafening, and prefer the constant buzz of a vibrant city to stimulate your senses?

This is an equally important question you need to consider when you are deciding where you want to learn English. Choosing to learn English abroad is a big decision and making sure you are in the right environment to suit you is important. Whatever your preference, we have a programme to suit you.

City

London is probably the most cosmopolitan city in the world, and combines the world of commerce, thousands of years of history, some of the best retail therapy and many of the UK’s best known landmarks and tourist attractions. If you are coming to the UK to learn English from far across the world, the London landmarks are probably high on your must-see list.

At our Winter by the Thames and Kings College young learner camps, we can open doors to all of these sides of the city. The schools are based on the South Bank, right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of London Bridge and a stone’s throw from the River Thames.

Besides seeing the famous landmarks that rise up at the river’s edge, like the London Eye and Big Ben, our city-based programmes open up the more creative sides of the city through the elaborate street art, the theatres of the West End and Shakespeare’s Globe.

If cityscapes really are your preference, then the historic city skylines of Malta might also take your fancy. Here you can take in famous bastions, modern, bustling  shopping centres all within easy reach of each other.

Countryside

Some of us prefer more scenic surroundings:  Wide open spaces, rolling hills and narrow village lanes are just some of the things that appeal to fans of the countryside. Our rural camps offer all of the these and some great learning opportunities. While our English classes are great whichever camp you choose, our PLUS programmes are designed to take advantage of the scenic surroundings.

From trekking to orienteering, horse-riding to tennis and golf, our countryside camps are perfect for anyone who enjoys an active getaway. Being on campus means that after class has ended, you can head to your chosen activity, enjoy the great outdoors and come back together with all your friends to catch up on the afternoon’s fun over dinner.

Whether perched on the edge of a village, overlooking rivers and fields, or surrounded by the green landscapes of Yorkshire, choosing a countryside camp is the perfect location to relax, while staying active in the fresh air.

So the choice is yours! Which do you prefer, the CITY or the COUNTRYSIDE? Whatever your preference, at BSC Young Learners we are sure to have the right camp for you. Or if you just can’t decide, why not try both.
